Up for Air Zine
Up for Air Zine
Up For Air is a call to reckoning for a space yet to be fully acknowledged and held. Unbeknownst to many -- the intersection of blackness, religion and queerness exists in a multitude of forms. This cumulation of stories, archived photos and careful design begin to unravel the thread of narratives that are usually found sitting in the back row of the black church. Inspired by a photography series by photographer Ericka Jones-Craven, she has transformed the photographs into a memoir that tells the tales of black youth who identify as spiritual or religious, eccentric and are queer (not only speaking about sexuality and gender, but on how they view and manifest their own personal connections with God). Take a journey through this visceral lens of growth, acceptance, love and praise. 40% of proceeds at the end of the August will be donated to Queer, Black Arts Organizations in Atlanta, GA.
